What are the issues with GenAI recipes?
With the boom of ChatGPT and Deepseek it is no surprise AI recipes have exploded all over the web. People have flooded social media and created websites overnight with hundreds of recipes. They lure you in from delicious looking images that seems a bit too good to be true.
While this seems like a great thing, it comes with many issues. Models are trained off millions of recipes and try to guess how to make new recipes based off historic ones. Unlike a human, the AI does not know how the recipe tastes or how to adjust to make it balanced. It doesn’t understand flavors, it just predicts the next word. So while it might suggest “a delightful umami glaze,” it has no idea what that actually taste like or create it. Not to mention the hallucinations and getting a bit too creative with ingredients that don’t quite go together.
